The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating pet illnesses and deaths associated with jerky pet treats from China. Since September 24, 2013, the FDA has received more than 3000 complaints of pet illnesses related to the consumption of "chicken, duck, or sweet potato jerky treats, nearly all of which are imported from China." "The reports involve more than 3600 dogs, 10 cats and include more than 580 deaths."
The FDA has not released the name of the brands suspected in causing illness in pets, but as soon as they do I will post them.
My husband and I always make sure we buy food and treats for our dog that are made domestically. For now, if you have chicken, duck or sweet potato jerky treats I would hold off giving them to your pet until we know more.
